CHICAGO – The stage is set for a welcome site on Lake Chicago. Next week, live performances return to Navy Pier for the first time in over 18 months.

Celebration at Navy Pier kicks off with a brand new event – Chicago LIVE!, a free two-day outdoor festival to celebrate the return of the city’s best arts and entertainment. The two-day lakeside celebration is September 24-25. Interpreters, such as ‘As you like it,’ Actor Kayvon Khoshkam told WGN they couldn’t contain their excitement.

“I’m really excited for Chicago to see the wrestling, the wrestling live in a Shakespeare play,” Khoshkam said. “I don’t think they’ll be ready for this.”

He’s performing with the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and is excited to show Chicagoans what to expect on October 6 when the show takes the stage.

“It’s a love story above all and Shakespeare’s wedding ‘As You Like It’, which is an exploration of love with the music of The Beatles,” Khoshkam said. “They complement each other in a miraculous way. ”

Actor Ivri Skye, who’s working with another production, has said he’s ready to return to the stage.

“Due to Covid, we couldn’t schedule a show anywhere,” she said. “So it was tough, but I’m glad it’s opening up now. Anyone can get art.

In addition to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, other performances will include the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, Broadway Chicago and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The performances will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Participants must present a COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of a negative test within the past 48 hours. Free rapid tests will be available on site.

“Sure, when I have time, I’m going to watch plays,” Skye says, “because I really like to watch plays and see other people.”

Through Julia Gregory, local democracy journalist

A ‘key culture and entertainment’ festival will help kick off the summer of recovery in the West End.

The Underbelly Festival will set up its Spiegeltent in Cavendish Square, near John Lewis in Oxford Street.

The festival will run from July 1 to September 26 and it is hoped that it will encourage people to return to the area and stimulate the economy and create 120 full-time and part-time temporary jobs.

Performances include Basil Brush and the Hotel Paradiso family circus show and West End improvisation favorites The Showstoppers who stage musical adventures for kids.

CBBC and Crackerjack presenters Sam and Marc will make their Underbelly Festival debut with the On the Road Show.

And the headliner of the festival is Bernie Dieter’s Berlin metro cabaret show.

Comedians include BBC Flash Quiz show host Lightning Zoe Lyon and star of last year’s Royal Variety Show Daliso Chaponda.

The tent can accommodate 500 people and there will also be food and drink stalls with a total capacity of 2,000 people at all times.

The family festival includes cabaret, comedy, music and theater. People will need tickets to attend the shows, but they can visit the booths without pre-booking.

Westminster City Council’s planning committee has given the green light to organizers to set up the 24-diameter tent. (Tuesday May 25).

However, they heard that residents of the square’s only apartment block were concerned about noise.

The organizers will set up the tent in the far part of the plaza from the residential block of Harcourt House.

The performances will end at 10 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday evening and 11:30 p.m. Thursday to Saturday evening.

Police also wanted 24 hour security in the square due to the “high level of crime” there.

The Parks and Garden Trust also opposed the plan.

Ed Bartlam, the co-founder of the Underbelly Festival said it aims to be accessible and affordable.

The team organized Christmas events in Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square.

Mr Bartram said: “We have robust noise management plans.”

He explained that there had been numerous site visits with the police to address their concerns and that the team had solid stewardship plans.

Underbelly is also working with Connection Crew, which provides a way out for people to get out of homelessness, to set up and take down the site.

Last year, the project to demolish an underground car park in the square was approved. It will see spaces for shops, gyms or medical centers.

Councilor Guthrie McKie said: “This is meant to attract people from all over London, not just Westminster. If we cut (hours) it won’t make it viable.”

President Jim Glen said: “Bringing the West End back is so important. “

Another committee member, Selina Short, commented “this is a very elegant temporary building”.

A Northeastern recreation group has revealed plans to bring a new seasonal outdoor entertainment experience to its venue this summer.

Tim Wilks, the operator behind the Lane7 and Gutterball boutique bowling alleys, launched Burn It Up, which is an outdoor festival-style street food, drink and entertainment venue in North Shields.

Accommodating up to 1,000 guests in a 1.6 acre space, Burn It Up consists of five areas: the Pavilion, Picture Yard, Village Hall, Gin Garden and Feastery Street.

Around 100 hospitality employees will be recruited to join the Burn It Up team, with the venue scheduled to open today (April 12).

An array of rides, live music, comedy nights and bingo will take place in the pavilion while the Picture Yard will host cult film screenings and sporting events this summer such as the delayed UEFA Euro competition, Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics.

Burn It Up will also become the hub for a range of children’s clubs, entertainment and movies, with morning opening hours dedicated to families.

Owner Tim Wilks said, “With outdoor socializing becoming the new standard in hospitality, we want to put much-needed entertainment back into the calendar.

“What is crucial will be done in a safe and secure manner as summer approaches and beyond. We have worked very closely and positively with all parties to ensure that we provide a safe and friendly environment for people to have fun in what is a great outdoor space.

“We encourage everyone to book in advance and it is encouraging to see these bookings coming in en masse and quickly.”

Burn It Up will be open daily from 3 p.m. until late Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. until late Friday through Sunday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) – Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Round Rock kicks off an outdoor music and entertainment festival on Friday. It will kick off the opening of the resort’s outdoor entertainment space.

The three-day festival is free and open to the public. In addition to a farmers’ market, summer fashion show and tours of Kalahari characters, three live bands will perform at the event.

The Watters are among the few artists.

Jenna Watters, The Watters

“We’ve been making music together for about 12 years,” said Jenna Watters.

The Watters is a husband and wife duo from the Austin area. When they are not playing together, they form a group of seven musicians. A COVID-19 world of music seemed different to them. Zoom and neighborhood lawn gigs are how they have adapted.

“The past year has actually been pretty busy for us,” Watters said. “We just have to adapt and do what we can. ”

Many Austin area musicians have been hit hard by the concert hall closures. The Blenders, which is an acoustic duo, has seen a significant drop in gigs.

David Dyke, The Mixers.

“We usually do about 30 shows a year, and we did four last year,” David Dyke said with The Blenders.

Both The Blenders and The Watters will be performing in the Kalahari Outer Space this weekend.

The Kalahari said the event capped at 600 people. Guests should also follow the Town of Round Rock Mask Mandate.

“Kalahari Resorts and Conventions invites its guests, along with the Round Rock and Austin community to Spring Fest this weekend as we celebrate the opening of Amatuli, our outdoor entertainment space. As we all welcome to Spring Fest, the health and safety of all our visitors remains our priority ”, Kalahari wrote in a statement to KXAN.

“It’s a really nice outdoor space so everyone can take their distance,” Dyke said.

Watters said the majority of the spaces it is reserved for are outdoor spaces.

“There’s not much going on inside right now,” Watters said.

Places like Elephant Room, a popular jazz club, are still in the dark from COVID-19.

“Things are coming back, but it’s not 40 gigs a day, I’ll tell you,” said Michael Mordecai.

Mordecai helps book concerts both at the Elephant Room and other venues around town. Before the coronavirus, 40 concerts a day were the norm.

“I know we can get musicians to play there, but I don’t know if anyone is going to get sick,” Mordecai said.

Watters said things are always improving for the music industry.

“Inquiries are pouring in. Everyone is ready for the music, it seems,” Watters said.

The open-air festival in the Kalahari will begin on Friday March 26 at 6 p.m. and continue through Sunday March 28.

Previously, in September, we reported that the Bandai Namco 2nd Entertainment Festival had been postponed due to rising rates of COVID-19 infection across Japan. The event which was scheduled to be held at the Tokyo Dome from Saturday February 6 to Sunday February 7, 2021 was once again going to celebrate some of the company’s most pristine music creators with live performances and new interpretations of their previous work, however, the escalating outcome of the pandemic has continually pushed back its official date.

While another state of emergency was declared by the Japanese government today Thursday, January 7, Bandai Namco has decided to postpone the celebration indefinitely until further notice. For the sake of the health and safety of its spectators, the venue will be rescheduled at a later date once government restrictions are lifted. The new schedule and other details regarding the postponement will be announced on the official event website as soon as they are decided by Bandai Namco and the Tokyo Dome.

Customers who have already purchased tickets for the event can request a refund on the Festival official website. As more details on the Bandai Namco Entertainment Festival 2nd are released, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

TAFT CEO Suzanne Porter said she was excited to bring Reset 2020 to the region.

A new festival in Taranaki will help revive a struggling post-Covid-19 entertainment industry, organizers say.

Reset 2020 replaces the Right Royal Cabaret Festival, which was scheduled to run from June 25 to 28, and the Box of Tricks Festival, which was to run from September 26 to October 4.

Both were canceled by the Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT), which instead created an assortment of cabaret, comedy, music and theater from November 5 to 15.

But who will perform is a secret until the festival’s official launch on August 13.

TAFT chief executive Suzanne Porter said she was excited to bring live performances back to the region after successfully hosting Womad NZ ten days before the lockdown.

“This festival provides a platform for New Zealand artists to get back to work and, just as vital, gives our local communities the opportunity to reconnect with the festival experience.”

Festival director Lisa Haskell said the festival was established during the lockdown.

“Initially, the project was a way to enable our festival team to maintain our practice and remain sustainable during a time of uncertainty,” she said.

Taranaki musician and founder of New Plymouth Singer Songwriters Anand Rose has said it’s important for the entertainment scene to have events like this after Covid-19.

“It will be good for our national musicians to find work. It will be good to bring them here in Taranaki.”

He said that 50% of the programming in TSB’s Festival of Lights entertainment program were local artists, and he hoped they would have a chance at Reset 2020.

The festival coincides with the last weekend of the Taranaki Garden Festival, which runs from October 30 to November 8 and is also run by TAFT.

The Taranaki Garden Festival and the Taranaki Arts Trail will also take place in November.

The Taranaki Arts Trail will also run from October 30 to November 1.

Devon Hotel owner Peter Tennant said it had been a difficult time for all sectors, and another festival in the area would help recapture the city after Covid-19.

“For the region, it’s fabulous. It brings wallets to the city,” he said.
